Here in Plano, Texas, when it comes down to heat, either natural or HVAC, many of us Texans are just trying to make sure it is not too much, or too little. Here are some elements and info on heat.
Heat and my home: Furnaces.
In technical terms, they work just fine. Just give a bit of space they will operate day and night, if needed. Now, what to do if you think that somethin’ was wrong here? First of all, you’ll notice it quickly. It’s cold.
Electricity.
If there’s electricity in your home, but something does not feel right, like lights flickering when your system turns on, that’s when you call a licensed technician or electrician. Here at Dragon Air Services we have both, licensed and experienced. Here’s a bit o’ video going over basic electric components of your home.
Noise.
Sometimes a furnace will kick in, but there’s a bit of noise around it. For example: popping sounds – the ductwork expanding and contracting as it heats and cools, Rattlin’ – something may be loose, Squealing – if it’s not your neighbor’s cat, the belt may need replacement, and Grinding – the motor bearings may need repair.
On and Off Rapidly
In the case of a furnace turning on and off again too quickly (rapid cycling), many causes can exist. The first may be a dirty or worn-out air filter. If you haven’t replaced it within very recent memory, try doing so — it’s a quick and easy fix. Using old filters puts more stress on the compressor and can lead to mechanical failures over time.
Smell.
If you smell gas, not good, leave home immediately.
Heat and my home: Garage Heaters.
A garage heater is an easy, reliable way to make your garage more usable and comfortable.
Designed with a low profile, garage heaters operate with cost-effective efficiency that makes them ideal for winter months. Propane and natural gas units are available for home garages of any size, as well as large industrial work areas.
Not sure if a garage heater is for you? Consider these possibilities:
Getting in and out of the car on cold mornings and evenings can be made more comfortable with a garage heater. It can also protect your vehicle from cold starts that can wreak havoc on an engine.
A garage heater can provide a warm, comfortable environment for pets, with greater safety than a space heater.
With a garage heater, you can continue to do home projects every day of the year. You also have the flexibility to store items such as beverages and houseplants without the danger of freezing.
Heat and my home: Heat Pump.
A heat pump is an HVAC unit that heats or cools by moving heat. During the winter, a heat pump draws heat from outdoor air and circulates it through a home’s air ducts. In the summer, it reverses the process and removes heat from the house and releases it outdoors.
